2019 Bowling for LAC Photos: WSCAI’s Annual Bowling For LAC Charity Event to support and raise money for the Chapter’s two lobbyists and the Legislative Action Committee (LAC) with all their efforts in Olympia.
The Legislative Action Committee’s 2019 Bowling for LAC event was another success. Between the attendance fees and gift basket ticket sales we far exceeded our fund-raising goal of $4,000, bringing in nearly $6,500. Bowling for LAC is one of two annual fundraisers for the Legislative Action Committee. This year’s event, which was held at Bowlero in Lynnwood, was a collaboration of the Community Associations Institute’s Washington State Chapter staff and volunteers from the Outreach and Social Committees.
We had over 60 people attend, taking up the first twelve lanes of the alley and getting in two full games of bowling. Note for next year: Don’t expect to beat Rachel Amundson if you end up in her lane. The Social Committee put together another great gift basket, consisting of a couple bottles of wine, some snacks, and a stay at Salish Lodge. Apart from the bowling and the funds we raised, the event is a great opportunity to get know other people in the organization we don’t interact with daily. Before Robert Cairns won the grand raffle prize (for the second year in a row!) we struck up a conversation, and I learned about the myriad of projects he’s worked on across the country, his interest in ISO 9000 quality management systems, and his certification as a Master Gardener.
The Legislative Action Committee is WSCAI’s voice in Olympia — looking out for the interests of community associations and those who run them and acting as a resource for state officials and legislators on related issues. Special thanks to LAC members and WSCAI’s lobbyists Krystelle Purkey and Kathryn Hedrick for their continued dedication. A BIG thank you to all our attendees and lane sponsors!
